About Cat

My name is Cat Scott Larimore (previously known as “Cat Scott”). I am crazy about Louisville, the town where I was born and raised, and am head-over-heels crazy-in-love with the practice of yoga.

My Introduction to Yoga

I was first introduced to yoga on my 19th birthday. My best friend gently acknowledged my freshman 15 30 with a gift: a yoga mat and a “Yoga for Weight Loss” tape (I’m guessing it was an early version of this DVD.) To this day, I vividly remember the burning in my thighs as I held Warrior II for the first time. I would practice the tape when visiting home, but even if I had enough space in my dorm room, I wouldn’t DARE do it while back at school.

My First Yoga Class

My first class experience was my sophomore year of college. My roommate and I talked about how much we loved it and how we would go religiously. We never went again for some reason. Over the next few years, I continued using my tape off and on, dabbled in Windsor Pilates, and took a few gym yoga classes.

Power Yoga in Santa Monica

I moved to Los Angeles in 2007 and worked 4 blocks from the famed (in the yoga world, anyway) Santa Monica Power Yoga. A girlfriend convinced me to try a class after work. It was challenging, sweaty, intense, and EUPHORIC! We always left class with shit-eating grins talking about how fantastic we felt. I would be on a high for the rest of the evening. This is the first time I realized that yoga could be a workout unto itself; strength training and cardio rolled into one. I practiced there as often as possible for the rest of my time in LA and supplemented my practice with YogaDownload.com.

Connecting with Yoga in Louisville

In 2010, I moved back to my home town of Louisville eager to get my yoga on. I quickly discovered some great studios and found some wonderful teachers that I followed. I quickly upped my yoga practice to about 4-5 times per week.

I now practice mostly Ashtanga, but am not yoga-system-faithful; you’ll find me practicing Bikram, Iyengar, and Vinyasa all over town. My practice has evolved into a steady 7-8 classes per week and it still doesn’t seem like enough!

Teaching Yoga

In 2011, I took the Yoga East 200 Hour Teacher Training. You can find me teaching on Sunday mornings at Yoga East Frankfort Ave.

Non-Yoga Stuff About Me

When I’m not practicing yoga, I am working as a graphic designer and illustrator. My other free time is spent running in Louisville’s beautiful Olmsted Parks, experimenting in the kitchen, imbibing local IPA’s, and checking out live music.

I’m married to an awesome guy who is getting his Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Bellarmine and we have a cute grey kitten who thinks he’s a dog.
